Quiz Angels

A fabulous figure of £2040 was raised at the Street Angels Quiz Night on January 24th.  Tickets were sold out and extra funds were raised through generous individual donations, a raffle and an auction of a magnificent Angel-themed cake! (well worth £100!). Congratulations to team ‘Sticky Wicket’ who won by a marginal half a point.

A huge thank you goes especially to Louise Kenyon and the wider team who organised the event, the wonderful Quizmaster Michael Tame, and Christchurch for the use of their building.

More vulnerable people who need our care & support can be helped on Guildford’s streets, late on a Friday & Saturday night. Great result! There was even an angel-themed  round to mark the cause behind the occasion (who knew that Robbie Williams’ ‘Angels’ only reached no.4?!).

Now for the next event, to launch the Chaplaincy’s 10th Anniversary ‘Be an Angel’ appeal. Sun. 15th April, 4 – 6 pm. for all volunteers & supporters. Watch this space for further details!

We can hardly believe it’s nearly ten years since a small group of people from Guildford churches got together in 2008 with a vision to serve vulnerable people in our town, whatever their circumstances. The first project, Street Angels has been our ‘signature’ ever since, and has not only won the hearts of people out and about in the night time economy of the town, but has built bridges in collaboration with the Police and emergency services, the Borough Council and civic bodies.
