On the 3 June a host of Angels and GTCC staff were invited to join the ‘Blooming Picnic” in the Castle Grounds run by Guildford in Bloom & sponsored by Guildford Fringe Festival, Experience Guildford alongside several commercial sponsors. The event featured local choirs and singers and special stalls featured local voluntary groups as well as some commercial ones. Although a bit chilly for June, there were plenty of smiles and lots of colour around the Castle grounds.
Our volunteers grew tomatoes, salvias, geraniums, petunias, succulents and many other plants to help raise money for the charities attending. Around £75 was raised and we found it a good opportunity to share what the Chaplaincy does in the town as well as network with other groups and individuals.
Our stall was visited by local ‘celebrities’ including our new mayor Councillor Sallie Barker MBE and our former MP Angela Richardson also visited. Thanks to the many supporters and members of the general public who kindly donated by purchasing the plants we had nurtured for this special event, and thank you sponsors and Experience Guildford for the kind invitation to participate.
